Chairman of the National Council

Isabelle Adenot

Having graduated as a pharmacist at the Paris V Faculty aged 21, Isabelle Adenot began her dispensing career as an employed pharmacist in the Ile-de-France region. In 1984, she became a pharmacy owner in the Nièvre region, where she practised until 2009, while continuing her training to obtain further university qualifications and her Doctorate in pharmacy. She currently runs a community pharmacy in Paris.

Isabelle Adenot began her career with the Chamber in 1987, as a member of the Regional Council of the Chamber in Burgundy where she was chair between 1999 and 2007. In 2003, she was elected to the chair of the Central Council A (pharmacy owners) and joined the National Council in 2007. In this capacity she championed numerous cross-practice areas such as the city-hospital relationships and the ethical use of communication technology. Throughout these years, she played a major role in the creation and deployment of the Pharmaceutical Dossier, and was particularly involved in the protection and promotion of ethical standards in France and in Europe.

In June 2009, she was the first woman to be elected to the chair of the National Council of the Chamber. She was elected for a second term in June 2012.

She undertook an extensive reform of the institution, which was modernised in its organisation and focused on its missions, on professional values, on the importance of the human element and ethics, and which was open to the younger generations.

With a resolutely international view, Isabelle Adenot has presided since June 2009 over the International Conference of Chambers of Francophone Pharmacists / Conférence Internationale des Ordres de Pharmaciens Francophones. From 2003, she has been very actively involved in the work of the Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union, an organization she chaired in 2012.

In July 2012, she was elected President of the Chambers Committee in France (CLIO). She is currently a member of the Board of directors of the French Medicines Agency and of numerous professionnal organisations including the National Observatory for health professionals demography and the National Academy of Pharmacy.

Before devoting herself entirely to the pharmaceutical profession, Isabelle Adenot, who is married with four children, has been involved in various humanitarian and tourist associations. She has in particular created a festival of classical music.

She is a Chevalier in the Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur.
